Celebratory Oak Tree Planting
From small acorns…
CPRE Bedfordshire has been planting oak trees across the County to celebrate the centenary of the National Campaign to Protect Rural England and the 40th Anniversary of CPRE Bedfordshire.

With the collaboration of parish councils, the oak trees were planted by volunteers to enhance public spaces. A commemorative plaque celebrates the occasion.
Oak trees are a long-lived tree, and important for wildlife; no other tree species in the UK supports a greater diversity of life than an ancient oak. Oak trees support 2,300 species with 326 species dependent on oak trees for their survival.

This project was only possible due to a generous donation from a tree grower. We hope to plant more during next winter’s planting season.
