Hot on the heels of the disappointing decision of the High Courts to allow the Environment Agency to issue an operating permit to Covanta for their proposed Rookery pit Incinerator comes another proposal for a waste incinerator plant on the Beds/Herts border between Harpenden and Luton within the planning jurisdiction of Central Beds Council (CBC).

 

+1million homes = 20 cities the size of Cambridge (50,000 homes)

+ 1.9 million increase in population = 2 cities the size of Birmingham (pop: 1m)

Distance from Cambridge to Oxford = 85 miles
