This year CPRE Bedfordshire celebrates 30 years of standing up for Bedfordshire’s countryside and greenspaces. To mark this, we are running a photography competition open to all, to build a picture of Bedfordshire’s much-loved countryside and greenspaces, and glimpse how these are changing. The theme is: Bedfordshire - A Changing Landscape.

Local campaigners are delighted that Freemen's Common has been withdrawn as a possible site for development in Bedford Borough's Council's draft Local Plan 2035.

CPRE Bedfordshire has asked the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to “call-in for review” Central Bedfordshire Council’s decision to approve a small but controversial scheme for 9 new houses in Bedford Road, Northill that they and Northill Parish Council believe will have a serious impact on the conservation area of Northill.

A petition calling for a community's right of appeal against unwanted development, is gaining momentum across the country.

Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC)'s Development Management Committee gave the go ahead to nearly 200 new homes on the outskirts of small settlements at its meeting on 4th January.

Central Bedfordshire Council has announced a pause to its Local Plan process, with its draft local plan now anticipated in April 2017.

This edition highlights our latest work and activities in promoting and protecting Bedfordshire's countryside and greenspaces, including a special feature on our Living Countryside Awards 2016.

Local leaders have signed a call for a further million new homes and a population increase of 1.6 million people in the Oxford-Cambridge Corridor, which goes through Milton Keynes and Bedford.

CPRE members and volunteers are invited to celebrate CPRE's 90th anniversary at Ridgmont Station.
