A petition calling for a community's right of appeal against unwanted development, is gaining momentum across the country.

Local Potton-based councillor Adam Zerny set up a campaign group All 4 Better Development and started a petition calling for a "community right of appeal", as Central Bedfordshire Council gave the go ahead for yet more housing this month.

The local communities in Potton and Blunham, and many other rural communities around the country, are left without the right to appeal the approval of building schemes that will not only put additional strains on their schools and infrastructure, but change their communities forever.

The petition has now received over 9,000 signatures, just short of the 10,000 required for the government to publish a response.

You can sign the petition at https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/177333

This issue is a crucial one for Central Bedfordshire, which is seeing a surge in planning applications for large developments on the edge of its towns and villages.
