CPRE Bedfordshire AGM 17th April 2018

Monday, 05 March 2018 12:56

CPRE Bedfordshire's AGM will be held on April 17th 2018.

Following the AGM, which starts at 7pm, our speaker will be Professor Paul Leinster CBE, Cranfield University

Professor Leinster will be speaking on Accounting for the Natural Environment in the Oxford Cambridge Growth Corridor - a practical approach.

How should we value, protect and enhance the natural environment around us?

How can a natural capital approach help protect and enhance the environment?

A natural capital approach, which underpins the Government’s recently published 25 year plan for the environment is a way of seeking to ensure that we are able to be the first generation to leave the environment in a better state than the one we inherited.

Some are uncomfortable with trying to put a value on things such as ecosystems, land, minerals, the air, oceans and landscape. Aren’t these things invaluable?

Or if they are not assigned a value will others think they have no value?

The Bedfordshire Local Nature Partnership is leading a Defra part funded project in conjunction with the other Local Nature Partnerships across the Oxford – Cambridge Corridor to develop a proof of concept for a natural capital investment plan across the area.

Their report is due out at the end of March.

Come along and be amongst the first to hear more about the Natural Capital approach and the Local Nature Partnership’s Report.
