Central Bedfordshire shows no loss of Green Belt according to official figures 2009 - 2016, yet 677 hectares has been given over to development.

Plans for a recycling facility on prime agricultural land at Thurleigh have been turned down by Bedford Borough Council.

A partnership of green belt campaigners has just released a map exposing the extent of threat to London’s green belt. It shows nearly 200 sites under threat from development and proposals for building over 110,000 houses on protected green belt land.

This year, local plans are being progressed by Bedfordshire's local authorities - Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council and Luton Borough Council - plus neighbouring Milton Keynes – that will set the level and shape of development in our towns and countryside for the next 15 years or so.

Bedford Borough Council has revealed plans to create two new towns in the north of the county. 

As part of consultations on the Bedford Borough Local Plan 2032, developers have put forward last minute proposals to create two new towns in rural north Bedfordshire.
