Clophill Eco Lodges Clophill Eco Lodges Barry Halton

The deadline is fast approaching for entries to our prestigious Living Countryside Awards which recognise and reward people and projects that make a positive impact in our county.

We want to hear your good news stories about the best in local food and drink, projects that are engaging young people with their local environment, people who are improving access to the countryside and much much more!

The awards, held every two years, are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the great projects going on across the county and are valued by those who receive them.

In 2016 Mowsbury Hillfort on the outskirts of Bedford was awarded a CPRE Mark in the Biodiversity & Landscape Improvement category, they said "Winning the CPRE Mark for Mowsbury Hillfort and a commendation for Putnoe Wood gave us the confidence and inspiration to set our sights on longer term objectives for both sites."

In the same year Clophill Eco Lodges won a Mark in the Sustainable Enterprise category and described it as a “formal and professional recognition of the creative and practical effort put in by our Trustees, wardens and volunteers.”

There are six categories:

Local Food & Drink

Health & Wellbeing

Greening Urban Spaces

Sustainable Enterprise

Biodiversity & Landscape Improvement

Young People

Application forms and more details can be found here.

Applications should be returned by 15th June 2018 and the awards ceremony will take place on 3rd October 2018 in the Harpur Suite at Bedford Corn Exchange. The presentations will be made by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis.
